SEEBOARD , formerly South Eastern Electricity Board (SEEB), is a UK power company. The electric power industry in Great Britain was nationalized by the Electricity Act 1947, when more than 600 power companies were merged into twelve Area Boards, one of which was the Electrical Council of the South East. It acquired the former Princes Hotel on the seafront in Hove, East Sussex, and turned it into its headquarters. The building was refurbished and substantially extended between 1979 and 1981.

On March 31, 1990, the regional electrical board was converted into an independent regional electricity company (REC), and SEEBOARD plc was formed. On December 11, 1990, RECs were privatized. Hove headquarters closed in 1994, but some work was moved to the nearest SEEBOARD office in Portslade.

Seeboard Powerlink , owned by SEEBOARD, BICC and ABB, awarded (on August 13, 1998) a 30-year contract to operate, maintain, finance and renew the London Underground high-voltage electricity distribution network, under the terms of private financial initiatives the British government. Seeboard Powerlink becomes responsible for the distribution of high voltage power supplies to London Underground substations and over 400 kilometers of track. The contract includes capital construction and significant installation work on LUL power systems worth approximately Ã, Â £ 100 million.

In 2002 SEEBOARD joined 24seven Utility Services under LE Group ownership, which was renamed in 2003 to EDF Energy Networks, the English branch of ÃÆ' lectricitÃÆ' Â © de France, before it was acquired by Cheung Kong Holdings and renamed UK Power Networks.
