The International Association of Oil & amp; Gas Producers (IOGP ) is a global forum of the petroleum industry in which members identify and share best practices to achieve improvement in health, safety, environment, security, social responsibility, engineering and operations.
The association was formed in London in 1974 to develop effective communication between the upstream industry and international regulatory networks. Originally called Forum E & amp; P (for oil and gas e xploration and p roduction ), in 1999 the name International Association of Oil & amp; Gas Producers (IOGP) was adopted. Most of the oil & amper are reputable, private, and state-owned in the world. gas company, oil & amp; gas associations and major upstream service companies are members. IOGP members make up 40% of the world's oil and gas.

Collaboration with other bodies
IOGP also represents the interests of the upstream industry before international regulators and legislators at UN agencies such as the International Maritime Organization and the Commission for Sustainable Development. IOGP also works with the World Bank and with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). It is also accredited to various regional bodies including OSPAR, the Helsinki Commission and the Barcelona Convention, and provides channels for advocacy and debate between the upstream industry and the European Union (EU). This involves regular contact with the European Commission and the European Parliament.

IOGP data report
Each year, IOGP collects and publishes data on upstream operations worldwide, both onshore and offshore, from participating member companies and their contractor employees. The report is free and publicly available. Data includes:
- Work security
- Environmental performance
- Processing security events
- Health management
- Land transport security
- Flight security
Occupational Safety:
Since 1985, when IOGP began reporting annual trends in upstream security data, there have been many improvements in industry performance.
Currently, it is the largest database of safety performance, including participating member companies and their contractors on land and offshore, worldwide. Fatal incidents were analyzed by incident category, activity and related causal factors, and incident description was given for fatal incidents and high potential events.
Environmental performance:
IOGP has collected and published environmental data from participating member companies on an annual basis since 2001. The objective of this program is to enable member companies to compare their performance with other companies in the sector; and increase the transparency of industrial operations. The report collects information at the global and regional level, expressed in six categories of environmental indicators:
- Gas emissions
- Energy consumption
- Burning
- Aqueous disposal
- Non-aqueous drilling fluids are retained on cuttings dumped into the sea
- Oil spills and chemicals
Security event process:
Process security is a disciplined framework for managing the integrity of operating systems and processes that deal with hazardous substances. It relies on good design principles, techniques and operations and maintenance practices. The process safety event data (PSE) is based on the Tier 1 and Tier 2 process safety events reported by participating IOGP member companies separately for:
- Land and offshore
- Drilling and production
- Activity
- Consequences
- Material released
Normalized data on working hours associated with drilling and production activities to provide PSE tariffs.
Health management:
IOGP (with IPIECA) has developed two tools for assessing leading health performance indicators within each company. This enables comparison of performance between different parts of the company and between participating companies. The leading annual health performance indicator report illustrates the results submitted by participating companies for both tools and includes the company's actual anonymous results for the year, the trend over time and potential benefits for health management in the industry. Safety of ground transportation In April 2005, IOGP issued Report No. 365, recommended ground transportation safety practice, a guideline designed to apply to all ground transportation activities in the upstream oil and gas industry, including operators, contractors and subcontractors. IOGP collects data on motor vehicle accidents and information submitted by participating member companies published from 2008 onwards. Data is divided by region and category of damage. The data are grouped further to show the amount of damage that resulted in the rollover. These include:
- Number of Motor Vehicle accident victims (MVC)
- Number of Motor Vehicle Damages for each reporting group and category
- The rate of motor vehicle accidents (Motor Vehicle Damage per million kilometers) for each group and category reporting.
Global Production Report
In 2018, IOGP publishes its Global Production Report. This is based on the latest BP Statistical Review of World Energy and specifies the IOGP Production Indicatorà ©  © (PI) - the level at which a region is capable meet its own oil or gas demand - for seven regions around the world. A PI value higher than 100% means the region generates more than is required to meet its own requirements and can also export.
The main conclusion of this report is that demand growth and an annual reduction rate of 6% of the existing field encourage investment needs to gain additional volume. The investment will depend on regional and local policies that encourage responsible resource development.
European Petroleum Surveys Group
In 2005, the IOGP absorbed the European Petroleum Survey Group or EPSG , (1986-2005) into its structure. EPSG is a scientific organization with links to the European petroleum industry consisting of specialists working in applied geodesy, surveys, and cartography related to oil exploration. EPSG compiles and deploys the EPSG Geodetic Set of Parameters, widely used databases for Earth ellipsoids, geodetic data, geographical and projection coordinate systems, measurement units, etc.
IOGP Extraordinary Young Professional Award (OYPA)
The award, in conjunction with the biennial SPE HSSE-SR international conference, recognizes individual achievements with professional E & P experience of less than 10 years, demonstrating professional achievement and evidence of exceptional talent, dedication and leadership in at least one aspect of health, safety, security , environmental and/or social responsibility.
