In the US, the seventh generation of North America Honda Accord is a medium-size car available from 2002 to 2007 in both coupe and sedan styles. This sedan is also marketed as a Honda Accord in some markets in Latin America, Asia, Middle East, Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand, also associated with Honda Inspire available in Japan from 2003. The North American American Accord, with modifications to local market needs, is Honda's launch vehicle in the Korean market with sales starting from May 20, 2004.
Production begins at Marysville Honda Auto Factory. In early 2005, Honda's East Liberty Auto Plant began to build the Honda Accord Sedan on the same assembly line that produces Civics and Elements to increase Honda's flexibility in meeting the increasing market demand of Acura TL also assembled at Marysville Plant.

2003-2005
The first 2003 Honda Accord slid from Marysville, Ohio's assembly line on September 26, 2002. A larger car than its predecessor, the North American Accord was given a new level of refinement with chrome interior accents and higher grade materials. Formation still includes all the same trim levels as the previous generation, DX, LX, EX, LX-V6 and EX-V6.
Mechanically, the 4-cylinder engine is all new K series. For the first time the 4-cylinder Accord acquired a direct ignition (without distributor) coil-on-plug ignition system, which had previously been introduced on the V6. The direct ignition system provides horsepower and a slight fuel economy gain, as well as improving long-term reliability, relative to traditional systems with distributors and spark plug wires. In addition, Honda gave a new recommendation for the viscosity of engine oil, 5W-20 than the previous 5W-30 viscosity. Due to the lower viscosity, the engine parts move with less friction, which improves fuel economy. Together with other improvements, these changes affect the upgrades of the previous generation (with the F23A1 VTEC 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission) 22mpg city/29 hwy rating, to 23mpg city/31 hwy, according to EPA ratings 2008. 4-cylinder engine can be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or to a 5-speed automatic transmission with a gear (also new for 2003). The special 4-cylinder model is the world's first production car to meet California Super Ultra Low Emissions standard.
The 6-cylinder model has the same J-series V6 as the sixth generation, but revisions to the intake and disposal systems contribute to an increase of 40 hp, bringing the total power to 240 hp. The revised exhaust manifold really becomes part of the casting cylinder head itself. Six-cylinder Accords generally have a new 5-speed automatic transmission version with overdrive, except for the coupe described below, which can be purchased with a 6-speed manual transmission. With a V6 engine and an automatic transmission, the Accord achieves a fuel economy rating of 21mpg city/30 hwy.
The 2003 model year also debuted Honda's GPS navigation assistance system as an option for the Accord. Prior to 2003, it was only available on the higher end Acura line and Honda Odyssey. In 2004 Honda also first offered XM Satellite Radio as an option installed in the factory.
For 2005, the Accord received several updates, including standard side curtains and front side impact airbags for a total of six airbags, revised (all red) rear lights for the sedan (coupe rear lights remain unchanged), more chrome on the grille, and new design wheels for LX, LX-V6 and EX-V6 models. The new Hybrid Accord was introduced for the first time, with stylish new wheels, EPA mileage of 29 City/37 HWY, and a 3.0 liter motor similar to the usual Accord V6 model, but with increased horsepower. The hybrid version of the V6 produces 255 hp, an increase of 15 hp, makes the hybrid faster than the usual Accord V6 sedan, but still not as fast as the Accord Coupe V6 with 6 speed manual.
Coupe
For the first time, Honda offers an "enthusiastic" version of the Accord in the US, adding sport suspension and mated a 6-speed manual transmission from Acura CL to a 3.0 V6 Accord engine. The Honda Accord Coupe was introduced as a performance concept at the 2002 SEMA show. Powertrain modifications and chassis including intake and high flow exhaust, 295 bhp (220 kW) 3.2L V-6 engine, limited slip differential, 6-speed semi-manual transmission, prototype 8 Brembo-piston brakes, and lowered racing suspension and widened tracks. Exterior modifications include a carbon fiber body kit (including bumper, side sills, grille and lower body diffuser), dual integrated aluminum exhaust port, aluminum/carbon fiber rear wing, black chrome finish and rear lights, 20-inch black chrome wheels, Bridgestone Potenza S03 235/45 ZR20 tires, and flares fender and paint NSX Spa Yellow. Interior modifications include F1-style paddle shifters on steering wheel, multi-function prototype meter display with on-board diagnostics, Sparco carbon/Kevlar supported bucket seats covered in Alcantera suede, 4-point front seat harness, three spoke steering wheel, and aluminum sports pedal.
The Factory Performance Package is a dealer option based on the SEMA concept car, available for the 2003 Accord V-6 Coupe LX and EX with manual or automatic transmissions. Chassis/exterior changes include Factory Performance suspension (shock absorbers, springs), undercarriage kit, 17-inch alloy wheels, 215/50VR-17 high power tires, and rear wing spoiler. Interior accessories include a factory performance shift knob and trim.

2006-2007
In 2005, for the 2006 model year, which is the 30th anniversary, North America Accord received a mid-generation refresh, although that's quite significant and some fans call this generation 7.5.
The exterior was revised with a new front grille which was later seen on the eighth generation Honda Civic which also debuted that year, new rear styling with triangular Triangular rear lights, daytime running lights (DRL) and heated glazing for US EX models. The heated mirror and the previous DRL are only available in Accord sold in Canada. The 2006 model also features a new wheel design, with 17 "wheels becoming standard on the V6 model.Stability Assist (VSA) vehicles, traction controls and Rem aids are available on the V6 model for the first time.Earlier, the system is named TCS and includes controls traction and brake assistance, but not stability control.
The interior is also slightly redesigned with changes such as new steering wheel cover, different color gauges and different style shift knobs for automatic transmission models. GPS Navigation System has been updated (4th generation) with faster processor, more memory, and some new features, such as restaurant information from Zagat. A revised maintenance maintenance system is also added which gives the owner a reminder for scheduled maintenance such as oil changes based on operating conditions.
Powertrain improvements were made in the Accord line-up in 2006. V6 engine power increased to 244 bhp (182 kW) (4 hp, SAE net revised 8/04 *) and 4-cylinder engine power increased to 166 bhp (124 kW) 6 hp, SAE net revised 8/04 *). The power gain is achieved by the extensive increase in airflow from the intake and disposal systems. Due to this improvement, the V6 engine was renamed to J30A5 from the previous J30A4, and 4-cylinder from K24A4 to K24A8. For the Brazil market, the 2.4L engine was dropped for a smaller 2.0-liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC K20A engine that produced 148 bhp (110 kW). This is done to make the car more competitive against the newly released Ford Fusion. The 2006 model is also the first year in which the V6 sedan is offered with a 6-speed manual transmission of the coupe as an option. The 4-cylinder accord is now controlled with Drive-By-Wire (DBW) instead of throttle cable, providing for smooth operation and improved throttle response; V6 Accords already using DBW before model year 2006.
The 2006 Accord Hybrid got the same revision as the other Accord, although the engine and battery power were as strong as 2005, the 2006 rating system ranks at 253 bph (189 kW), and a larger battery pack is added. The distinguishing features of other Accord Hybrids are different rear light clusters, antennas, wheels, mirror signals and lack of folding rear seats. The 2005 Hybrids also have different storage doors than other Accord, which disappeared in the 2006 version. Finally, the sunroof was not available in 2005 but the standard was in 2006.
The trim levels are also revised, with the basic DX Accord being replaced by VP (Value Package) trim that adds air conditioning, keyless entry, power lock and cruise control as standard features compared to DX 2005. In Canada, the sedan comes as DX-G, SE , EX-L, SE-V6, EX-L V6, EX-L V6 6MT, and Hybrid, while trim coupe includes SE, EX-L, EX-L V6, and EX-L V6 6MT.
For the 2007 model year, the new SE-V6 trim was introduced. The color "Cool Blue Metallic", previously only for the coupe, became available for the sedan. Although in the final year of the generation, the 2007 Accord still ranks high by reviewers, scoring slightly under the redesigned Toyota Camry in comparison to the Edmunds family sedan.
Hybrid
Honda offers the Accord Hybrid in the United States in the model from 2005 to 2007. Produced exclusively in Sayama, Saitama, Japan, the Accord Hybrid is the third hybrid model of the company when the 2005 model was introduced in late 2004, following the Insight and Civic Hybrid. The Hybrid Accord is priced US $ 3,000 higher than the Accord model "EX V6", and still has the same trim and level features (although the 2005 model does not include power moonroof). Honda positioned the Accord Hybrid above the non-Acura ranks in North America.
While this new vehicle shares the same displacement with the usual Accord V6 power plant, the hybrid engine comes from the Honda Odyssey 2005 minivan and has the ability to turn off three of the six cylinders under certain conditions for better fuel economy (technology that Honda calls VCM or Variable Cylinder Management). The new engine features iVTEC technology and drives a new five-speed semi-automatic transmission compact, developed to allow the entry of an electric motor flanked between transverse mounted engines. Engine power increases from 240 to 255 horsepower (179 to 190 kW) and the torque rises from 212 to 232 pound-feet (287 to 315Ã, N? M). The vehicle reached 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in 6.5 seconds. Together with the Integrated Motor Assist electric motor, the hybrid version provides a slightly higher performance than the conventional V6 Accord. However, the market did not embrace the Hybrid Accord, and the vehicle was discontinued after the 2007 model.
Fuel economy was initially estimated in the city of 30 mpg -US (7.8Ã, L/100Ã, km) and 37 mpg -US (6.4Ã, L/100Ã, km ) highway for 2005 model year, but then converted to 28 mpg -US (8.4Ã, L/100Ã, km) city, 35 mpg -US (6.7Ã, L/100Ã, km) highway, after the addition of standard moonroof and Honda serep tires during the 2006 model year. This change crashed into a car to a higher weight class for testing the United States Environmental Protection Agency mileage. The 2006 model has also been rated as an AT-PZEV vehicle. The AT-PZEV (Advanced Technology-Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) is an emission standard created by the California Air Resources Board. The 2005 Accord Hybrids model was rated LEVII-ULEV by the board of California Air Resources and Tier2, Bin5 by EPA.
For 2006, the Accord Hybrid comes standard with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), and like a conventional Accord, it receives a minor exterior facelift. The Hybrid Accord of the 2006 model and upwards can be identified with the amber rear turn signal while their fully gasoline counterparts have a red rear turn signal.
Honda announced the Accord Hybrid will return to the market for the 2014 model after spending a generation, with a new dual-motor system and plug-in options.

Changes in power ratings in 2006 and vehicle models last year were caused by the use of the J1349 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) net calculation (Rev 8/04) which entered into force in January 2005.
The Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle version only comes in a four-cylinder sedan equipped with an automatic transmission. Beginning in model year 2004, sales of PZEV models began in the US states of New York, Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts.

On October 1, 2012, Honda announced the withdrawal of 573,147 Accords in the US and 30,058 in Canada equipped with V6 engines from 2003 to 2007 models. The addition of the Accord to recall the Acura TL cars from 2007 and 2008 models increased the number of affected vehicles in The United States and Canada to 660,086.
Remember the 11v-395 starts on August 4, 2011 for the Accord and other Honda with automatic transmissions. The recall is estimated to cover 1,512,107 vehicles.
Recall 14v-351 began on June 19, 2014 for many of Honda involved in Takata airbag withdrawal.
