A change management analyst is responsible for auditing and evaluating the change management process within the System engineering context (not to be confused with organizational change management).

Change management in systems engineering is aimed at helping system users to adopt new systems and use them productively. The role of change management analysts includes ensuring that adequate documentation and support is available to users.

In 2006, this position was described by the National Weather Service (USA) as follows:

Responsibilities [management of analyst changes] include: analyzing (request for change) before distributing it for processing review, obtaining all missing data, scheduling and providing secretarial assistance (agenda and minutes) to the [configuration control board] and (program management) committee) meetings, maintain current status (request for change) including action items, maintain charter and Terms of Reference (TOR), and coordinate the request process (request change).
