Medical & amp; Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is a test conducted in Pakistan each year to enter in MBBS and BDS degrees. MDCAT is conducted by the University of Health Sciences (Lahore) in Punjab. Previously, his name was the Medical University Sign-in Test (MCAT) and the new name was commissioned in 2017. It began in 1998 on the initiative of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to fight a fraud in the exam at that time. From 1998 to 2007, it was conducted by King Edward Medical University, Lahore. Since 2008, the University of Health Sciences (Lahore) is conducting this test. Each year about 55,000 students try this test while there are about 3400 seats in public sector medical colleges and about 200 seats in Punjab public-sector dental colleges.
MDCAT is a prerequisite for admission to all public and private medical and dental colleges in Punjab.
MDCAT is taken as a multiple choice question (MCQ). Each MCQ carries 5 marks while there is a negative sign from the -1 mark for the wrong answer.
