The Mazda CX-9 is an intermediate crossover SUV manufactured since 2006 by Mazda in Japan at the Ujina 1 plant in Hiroshima Prefecture.

Mazda added many new active security systems to the new CX-9. In 2008, the first generation Mazda CX-9 was awarded the Motor Trend SUV of the Year. Also, was selected for the North American Truck of the Year in 2008.
In Australia, the second-generation Mazda CX-9 was awarded the 2017 Wheel Car of the Year.
Cars and Drivers named CX-9 the best midsize SUVs in the 10 Best Trucks and SUVs for 2017 and 2018 respectively.
