Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is a test conducted in Pakistan every year for Pre-Medical students. MDCAT is conducted by the University of Health Sciences (Lahore) in Punjab. Previously, its name was "'Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)'" and new name was assigned in 2017 by [[University of Health Sciences, Lahore|UHS]]. MDCAT is a pre-requisite for admission in all medical and dental colleges both public and private sector. MDCAT Guide (www.mdcatguide.com) provide fres study resources for MDCAT practice. MDCAT is taken as multiple choice questions (MCQ). Each question carries 5 marks while there is a negative marking of -1 mark for wrong answer. UHS provides syllabus for MDCAT every year on its website. In Punjab, every year, almost 55,000 students attempt this test. There are some 3400 seats in public sector medical colleges and approximately 200 seats in public sector dental colleges of the Punjab. In sindh mdcat is conducted by nts (national testing service). And paper pattren has also been changed now students have to attempt 100 mcqs in 120 mins.There are only few public sector universities including 'DUHS' 'KMDC' 'SMC' etc. There are about 800 public sector seats and in sindh colleges only the aggregate of science subjec is considered. Mcat entry test accounts for 50 percent while 10 and 40 percet for matric and hssc respectively.
